When it comes to following a diet, especially as a person gets older, is different for men and women. It may not be uncommon for women to see men cutting down on certain foods and portions and see them lose weight in the process. This can be frustrating for women who are trying to lose weight and not find any success or as much success as men. The main reason why men tend to be more successful at losing weight than men is because men tend to have more muscle mass and a larger skeletal frame. There are hormone related issues as well, especially after women reach a certain age.

The way in which male and female bodies produce and store fat may have some similarities but the areas of the body where the body stores the fat is different. In fact, studies have shown that people tend to set themselves unrealistic goals and get frustrated and quit when they are not able to meet them. Therefore, it is imperative to set realistic goals and work on a plan to meat them, to see any real success. Not succeeding in weight loss, or anything else for that matter, will only further dip the person into depression. That is definitely not the place you want to be when trying to lose weight. In those cases, weight gain is usually the result, not weight loss.

This does not include drinking fruit juice, as research has shown the juicing process actually increases the amount of calories. Instead, drinking plenty of water would be the way to go. Water not only quenches thirst, but staves off hunger, and can help increase metabolism. Contrary to what many people believe, even modest amounts of exercise can make a huge difference.
